This policy explains what CoverMyLaptop ("we", "us") collects when you use covermylaptop.com and request a quote, and how we use it.
What we collect
- Information you give us: your name, mobile number, email, ZIP code, and details about the device you want to cover (type, make, model, age, approximate value, and optionally serial number, purchase date and price).
- Information collected automatically: your IP address, browser type, the page that referred you, and campaign tags on the link you clicked (such as which ad brought you here).
How we use it
- To prepare your quote and have a licensed agent contact you to complete it.
- To set up and service your coverage if you choose to proceed.
- To understand which of our marketing is working.
- To comply with insurance licensing and record-keeping requirements.
Text messages and calls
When you check the consent box on our quote form, you agree that a licensed CoverMyLaptop agent may contact you at the number you provided by phone and text message, including automated texts, about your quote. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to opt out, or tell the agent you'd prefer not to be contacted.
Who we share it with
- Insurance carriers and administrators who underwrite or service the coverage you request.
- Service providers that help us run the site and route your request to an agent (for example, our web host and workflow tools). They may only use your information to provide those services to us.
- Legal and regulatory authorities when required by law.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
We keep quote requests and policy records for as long as needed to service your coverage and to meet insurance record-keeping requirements, then delete or anonymize them.
Your choices
You can ask us to correct or delete your information, or to stop contacting you, by emailing us at the address below. We'll honor requests except where we're required to keep records by law.
Security
We use reasonable technical and administrative safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
Children
Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
